Instant recognition!

Both the United States and the Organisation of American States have declared that they will not recognise the junta that seized power in Honduras on the 28th of June, and indeed they are demanding (at least for the time being) that the elected president be reinstated. Yet on the day after the coup the Irish Times referred to the junta as “the government”; the following day it referred to it as “the interim government” and went on to refer to President Zelaya as “the leftist.” But don’t hold your breath waiting for the Irish Times to refer to Gordon Brown, Nicolas Sarkozy, Angela Merkel or Silvio Berlusconi as “the rightists,” or to Brian Cowen as . . .
