Whoop it up for freedom!

René González, the first of the Cuban Five to be released, was due to speak at meetings in Liverpool and London to mark the sixteenth anniversary of their arrest. Despite an invitation from twenty-nine members of Parliament to address a meeting there, and by the TUC to address its congress in Liverpool, the British government has refused three legal appeals to overturn their decision to deny him entry to the country.
René was on a speaking tour to Portugal and France, both countries having granted him a visa without any issues. But the “Mother of Parliaments” carries on the old imperial arrogance.
