Basque election success |
| The Communist Party of the Basque Country (EHAK) achieved 12.5 per cent of the vote for the Basque Regional Parliament. This is the best vote ever for the communists.
The outlawed Batasuna party, which supports a separate Basque state, had asked its supporters to vote Communist this time. EHAK will be sending nine members into the newly elected parliament. The United Left (IU) kept its three seats, and the Nationalists—in government during the last term—lost four. Congratulations to our Basque comrades! |
