Letter from MoscowDear Comrade Mel,Moscow communists greet you! Whatever you hear about Russia, we exist and we struggle! Moscow Department of the Communist Party is the leader of the communist movement in our country, though we have powerful departments all over Russia, especially in big cities such as St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Samara, Vladivostok. Moscow is a city of social contrasts today: luxury and poverty, elite housing and homelessness. Unemployment, crime, ethnic discord, illegal immigration—all that we didn’t have ever before now are the reality of our life. The authorities put ona brave face. But the ordinary people continue to suffer. The communists reveal the nature of the existing society. We are not afraid to oppose the authorities’ policy in the government and in the streets. We organise protest rallies, indignation meetings. And we are supported by thousands of Muscovites. Many people of name associate themselves with our political platform. They are famous Russian scientists, officers, actors. The authorities do their best to prevent us from struggling. The official mass media either draw a veil over our activities or paint them in black colour. They are lying about our leaders, about our Soviet history, and the world communist movement. But it is not our intention to give up. We publish some newspapers, issue and spread propaganda materials. And we try to make maximal use of the internet. We have web sites and internet forums which are to unite all progressive forces in Russia and now, we hope, in the world. The official site of Moscow Department of the Communist Party of the Russian federation is www.comstol.ru. It contains the information about our department and its committees, Moscow news, and articles on most important problems and events in Russia and in the world. If there is any information you would like to share or anything essential you want to inform us about, please send the material to us. We’ll translate it and post it on the web site, and thousands of comrades in Russia will know about you, your party, and your country. We also invite you to visit our new internet forum, Центральный форум коммунистов России (“Central Forum of the Communists of Russia”): www.com-forum.ru/forum/index.php. There you’ll be able to meet and make friends with many interesting people, true communists and internationalists. Just sign in and post your message in any topic’s discussion of any section. The Admin will open a special discussion in English. And, last but not least, our new project has just been started! It’s our communist internet television. Its name is Krasnoe TV (Red TV). Enter and watch! If you had any videos we would be glad to broadcast them. Join us!” |
