10th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties
■ The 10th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties took place in São Paulo on 21–23 November, the first time such an event was held in Latin America. Sixty-five parties attended, from fifty-five different countries. The work of the meeting was summarised in a statement issued by the Communist Party of Brazil. The meeting also issued the São Paulo Proclamation—“Socialism is the alternative!”—and a Resolution in Solidarity with the Latin American and Caribbean Peoples.
